For: Future Engineers Solving Naija Problems
Target Group: Senior Secondary School Students (SS1–SS3)
Focus: Hands-on, WAEC-aligned, STEM & Tech-driven solutions to local problems
Inspire secondary school students to become solution-oriented engineers.
Equip students with practical STEM + tech skills that solve real Nigerian problems.
Foster innovation through project-based learning.
Bridge the gap between classroom theory and real-world applications.
Participants will learn to:
Understand and apply energy, circuits, materials, and digital logic
Code in Python and Flutter
Work with IoT sensors and app development tools
Solve community-based challenges through innovation
Students will work in teams to build real, practical solutions:
🔆 Solar-Powered Study Lamps
Impact: Help rural students study at night without relying on NEPA or kerosene.
📲 SMS-Based Market Price Tracker
Impact: Help farmers access daily crop prices via simple text messages.
🌊 Flood Alert System
Impact: Warn families and communities in flood-prone zones before disaster strikes.
The curriculum is thoughtfully structured to align with WAEC topics while incorporating modern tech skills.
Inquiry-Based Learning: “Why is this a problem in Naija? How do we solve it?”
Team Collaboration: Students work in innovation teams.
Tech Immersion: Exposure to hardware (solar panels, sensors) and software (Python, Flutter).
Community Relevance: Every project solves a local problem students can relate to.
By the end of the program, students will:
Build 3 complete working projects
Learn foundational coding & hardware integration
Pitch solutions at a demo day to potential sponsors & partners
Receive certificates & opportunities for incubation or scholarships
Nigeria faces energy, food, and climate challenges. The AfriTech Innovators Program empowers the next generation to:
Build rather than beg
Innovate, not imitate
Solve, not complain
Duration: 3 Academic Terms
Location: Partner Schools or AfriTech Innovation Hubs
Who Can Join: WAEC Science Track students (with interest in technology)
Program launched: July 8, 2025
